How to measure for your kilt

All measurements should be taken in inches. Have someone help you, and stand straight with your feet together, facing forwards and head up — and don’t hold your breath.

Waist

Measure your natural waist, usually level with your navel and the top of the hip bone. Take a firm measurement so your kilt sits comfortably without falling down.

Seat

A loose measurement, over your trousers, at the widest part of your bottom/hips. Empty your pockets, keep your feet together, and take the measurement with two fingers inside the tape so it isn’t too tight.

Kilt length

Measured from the top of your hip bone (level with the navel) down to the middle of the kneecap. A kilt is most commonly worn to the middle of the kneecap.

Height

Remove your shoes and stand straight against a wall on a hard surface. Measure from your heel to the top of your head. A full height measurement helps confirm the kilt length is correct.
